A harmonic rhythm surprisingly emerges among distressing train noises as patterns can often be observed when viewing at a greater scale, and in this case through a longer duration of time, transforming such mechanical noise into an organic form. Visualized through phase analysis on Adobe Audition, a one-minute recording of a train passing by my window is resolved into over 3600 irregular patterns resembling flowers, fireworks, water splashes and infinite imageries. 420 of them was extracted within a chronological sequence throughout an elongated frame, with 12 in a row suggesting a repetitive day and night shift, thus to picture a consistent day-by-day pattern. The tall aspect ratio of the frame may resemble a timeline therefore emphasize the sense of timespan. Documenting noises would also imply an inner story with their influence on the person experiencing them. When viewing at a larger scale, the transition of intensity may be similar to the process of breathing, intertwined with the chaotic textures that evokes anxiety and distress when the noise is at its peak. The patterns ultimately become organic, and they are reflecting my relationship with the train noise and how time has established a platform for their occurrence.
